This is the end of the road. This is my last year of high school, my last year as an adolescent, my last year living with my family, and my last year before life starts to get real. This year will be full of many lasts, but I want to remember all of them. You only get eighteen years as a child; mine are almost up. I want my last year of high school to be the best yet. I want to experience new things, learn from my mistakes, and, most importantly, have fun. This is a shared goal with many classmates because having fun is one of the most essential components for living a fulfilled life. You will regret your high school years if you do not make the most of them because they mark the end of your childhood.
As Senior Class President, it is my job and goal to ensure that the class of 2024 is enjoying their final year of high school. I create and coordinate events such as senior sunrise and sunset, homecoming, Winterfest, graduation, and more. I will publicize these events to reach a wide range of students. I will also ensure that I create a positive social environment so everyone feels included and safe to participate in events.
I also look forward to making new connections and strengthening previous relationships. I love my senior officer team and have grown closer to Katie, Allie, and Ava through this experience. We learn, fail, and grow together, and I am so grateful to have them beside me throughout my journey as a senior in leadership.
On May 24, 2024, I want to look back at my high school career knowing that I made the most of it, did not take anything for granted, and prepared myself for the future. The rest of my life is coming up quickly, but I am ready for it.

Favorite Quotes
"The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall."
- Nelson Mandela
This quote resonates with me because it aligns with my beliefs. You cannot learn unless you try. Paralyzing yourself because you are afraid to fail will result in an unfulfilling life because you never tried to reach your fullest potential. The only way to achieve success is to use every experience as an opportunity to learn, even if you fail. Learning from failure is better than never failing because when you rise after a fall, you come back stronger than ever before. This is something that I live by because I value having a growth mindset.
"If you set your goals ridiculously high and it's a failure, you will fail above everyone else's success."
- James Cameron
The other day, I told one of my friends that I want to be a multi-millionaire by the age of twenty-five. She told me that it was impossible, but if I reach for that goal, I will be failing above her success. She paralyzes herself every day because if she thinks something is impossible, she refuses to make an attempt. I set outrageous goals for myself because if I reach higher than everyone else, I will succeed more than everyone else. It is better to fail and learn than to never try because you were too afraid. As Wayne Gretzky said, "You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take."
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that."
- Martin Luther King Jr.
This quote holds true in every aspect of our current society. People are filled with hatred because they think that hating someone else will fix the way that they think, but that is not true. Hating others blinds you from the opportunities that come from solving problems with love. Love is the only thing that can combat hate because it allows you to see things from other people's perspectives and compromise. Hate was designed to cause destruction, but love was designed to conquer all.
Reflection Quote
"Someday, everything will make perfect sense. So for now, laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears, be strong and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason."
- John Mayer
This quote sums up my senior year. Everyone has to face a lot of ups and downs as they transition into a new phase of life. Emotions are high, stress is elevated, and the uncertainty about the future can be scary. Some people get accepted to their dream schools, while others are directed to a different path. Everything is ending, and at the same time, everything is just starting. Times can get confusing, but one of the main things that has kept me sane throughout this year is the reminder that everything happens for a reason. I am not perfect, so my path for the future won't be either. However, the road bumps along the way are what make life worthwhile. Although I am sad to leave this program and the people in it behind, I am ready for the future.
Leadership Goals
Win Homecoming
After losing for the past three years because of a lack of leadership in the Class of 2024, it is time for us to step up and win for our senior year. As class president, I have already started planning for homecoming and I have ideas that are sure to lead us to a victory. I do not want to have tears falling down my face when I hear the results of the competition for this year. Instead, I am hoping to jump for joy when we win the whole thing.
Leave a legacy
I want to be a good role model to my peers in leadership and leave a positive legacy. I want to be known as someone who was kind, compassionate, responsible, respectful, and fun. I hope that when my time in high school is up, I would have taught my classmates how to be the best versions of themselves and be kind to others.
Short-Term Goals
Find the college that is right for me.
As a senior, I have started the application process to attend college. I am planning out my future, but I do not know where the future will put me. I hope that within the next few months I realize where I am meant to be because I do not know where I want to go to college for the next four years of my life.
Have fun my senior year.
I have taken the first three years of high school so seriously that I need to take the time to enjoy every moment instead of taking high school for granted. I am going to use this year to make as many memories as possible because I want to look back on high school and have no regrets.
Long-Term Goals
Become a multimillionaire by the age of twenty-five
Many people have told me that this goal is impossible, but nothing is impossible if you work hard enough. I have already started to make strides towards achieving this goal and I am only seventeen. Anyone can accomplish anything as long as they put their mind to it. I want to have enough money to live comfortably and provide for my family one day, so I think that this is a reasonable goal.
Get married and start a family
Since I started high school, I have had long thoughts about my future. Most of the time, I think about my career. But recently, I have begun to think about my future as a wife and a mother. I don't think about romantic relationships often because it isn't a priority in my life right now. But one day, I want to marry my soulmate and start a family.
Reflection of Goals
Win Homecoming
We did it! The seniors won homecoming this year, and we had a blast. It was so fulfilling to see our hard work get recognized after trying to win year after year and always falling short. My favorite memories from senior year were building the float and competing in the night rally. I am so happy that we finally won together.
Leave a legacy
After completing my elder project, I realized that I have made an impact on my peers and I am leaving a legacy. I received multiple compliments on my presentation because my classmates appreciated the video I chose to show in class. It was motivating and relatable for every student. I hope that I can continue to impact my friends and the people in my class until it is time for me to leave.
Find the college that is right for me
I am excited to announce that I have committed to the University of Oklahoma! I finally found my home for the next four years and I could not be more excited. It took a lot of time, prayer, and reflection to be able to make this decision, but I am confident that I found the right place. Walking on their campus was so refreshing and I truly felt like I belonged there. I have never been more excited to go to college now that I am certain I found the right place. Boomer sooner!
Have fun my senior year
I have made the most out of my senior year. It has been the best year of school I have had in my life. Spending time with my classmates for one last year has meant the world to me. I have made many new friends this year with people I never would have imagined. It has been so fun to try new things, let go of things that don't matter, and live a little. I am so grateful for the past year and everyone who made it so special.
Become a multimillionaire by the age of twenty-five
I have made significant strides toward accomplishing this goal. Based on how things look, I may even achieve it before I turn twenty-five. I have researched the housing market to start investing in property after I graduate. I have also been paying more attention to the stock market so that I can invest more independently instead of hiring a manager for my funds. I plan to major in finance and economics in college so that I can learn more about business, and that knowledge will further help me accomplish my goal.
Get married and start a family
My goal to become a multimillionaire also supports my goal of starting a family. I want to be financially stable when I decide to get married and have kids. Although I haven't been actively trying to achieve this goal my senior year because I chose not to date in high school, I always pay attention to the men around me so that I can form expectations for what I want my future husband to be. I have a lot of male role models in my life that help to show me exactly what I want and don't want in a future partner.

Ava Brocchini is a seventeen-year-old senior who attends Ripon High School. She was selected as Senior Class President for the leadership program in February 2023. This is her third year in leadership, and she has worked extremely hard to do her best for this program. Ava always supports her peers and her teachers when they need it. She is excited to finish her senior year but has experienced bittersweet moments. She is not looking forward to leaving her best friends and family next summer, but she knows it has been inevitable since she set her eyes on college.
Outside of school, Ava enjoys playing softball, serving her town as Miss Ripon, managing her cattle operation, and planning for her future. She spends all her free time with her family and friends because she does not want to take any moment with them for granted. Throughout Ava's high school career, she has learned many life lessons. To keep her motivated, she creates goals for her to accomplish in the future. To work in finance and business, Ava knows she will have to focus on what she wants. She works hard to maintain her 4.0+ GPA to get accepted to her dream college. To be the best, you have to receive the best education. Ava toured fifteen colleges last summer to try and find the best fit for her. Her two favorite colleges were Duke and the University of North Carolina. Although she loved both universities, Ava will apply to many universities this fall to keep her eyes open for new opportunities. She hopes she will one day impact the world as her mentors did. |
Role Model
My dad, Steve, is someone I admire and who has impacted my life. As a parent, you must support your child, love them, and care for them. I know many people with parents who do the bare minimum, but I am grateful that my dad goes above and beyond to ensure my life is extraordinary and fulfilling. He has helped me grow and find the things I am passionate about. He taught me the game of football, showed me how to hunt, and gave me life lessons that helped shape me into the woman I am today. My dad is one of the most influential people in my life because he has shown up for me whether I needed him to or not. I am forever grateful for the sacrifices that he has made to support our family, and I love him so much. Undoubtedly, he will continue to be the best dad I could have asked for. He will support me regardless of my life path, and I hope to continue doing the same for him.

Inner Animal
The eagle is a majestic and powerful creature that has multiple symbolic qualities that I resonate with. Eagles represent freedom and the ability to ascend to great heights. I strive to reach my fullest potential and follow my dreams because I know that I am free. I also look to the future to keep my long-term goals in mind and discover new possibilities, just like eagles. They are also fearless, which is something I try to be every day. I am not afraid of a new challenge or standing up for what is right. In addition, eagles live in a wide range of environments because they are adaptable creatures. This resonates with me because I love to travel and try new things. I want to move across the country to go to college because I need to start fresh in an unfamiliar place. I also plan to study abroad at some point during my college career, so I have a personality that can adapt to different environments just like an eagle. As I continue to take more steps towards my future, I plan to keep the qualities I have that an eagle possesses too.

The Best Things About Me
The Impact of Sound and Words
You’re on Your Own, Kid
Taylor Swift
Summer went away
Still, the yearning stays I play it cool with the best of them I wait patiently He's gonna notice me It's okay, we're the best of friends Anyway I hear it in your voice You're smoking with your boys I touch my phone as if it's your face I didn't choose this town I dream of getting out There's just one who could make me stay All my days From sprinkler splashes to fireplace ashes I waited ages to see you there I search the party of better bodies Just to learn that you never cared You're on your own, kid You always have been I see the great escape So long, Daisy May I picked the petals, he loves me not Something different bloomed Writing in my room I play my songs in the parking lot I'll run away |
From sprinkler splashes to fireplace ashes
I called a taxi to take me there I search the party of better bodies Just to learn that my dreams aren't rare You're on your own, kid You always have been From sprinkler splashes to fireplace ashes I gave my blood, sweat, and tears for this I hosted parties and starved my body Like I'd be saved by a perfect kiss The jokes weren't funny, I took the money My friends from home don't know what to say I looked around in a blood-soaked gown And I saw something they can't take away 'Cause there were pages turned with the bridges burned Everything you lose is a step you take So make the friendship bracelets Take the moment and taste it You've got no reason to be afraid You're on your own, kid Yeah, you can face this You're on your own, kid You always have been |
"You’re on Your Own, Kid" resonates with me because I will be on my own soon. When I go to college, I will be far from anyone or anything that I know. I will be in a foreign place, but I am comfortable with that. I have always wanted to move across the country for college to get a fresh start. Like Taylor Swift, I am capable of facing the next phase of my life independently. However, I have not always been alone. I will have to move on from my childhood and move away from my family that has loved me and cared for me all of my life. They have never made me feel like I was alone because they have always been present. It will be hard to leave the people who raised me and to leave my brother, who is also my best friend. I am ready to turn the pages and face the future on my own, but that does not mean I am leaving behind the people who have made the biggest impacts on me.

What I Like Best About Being a Member of Leadership
There are so many things to love about leadership. One of the best parts about being in the program is making connections with new people and forming friendships. I have gotten to know so many people around campus because of leadership and I am so grateful for all of the opportunities I have had. Another thing I love about the program is my job. Being senior class president has been so much fun and I have loved planning out events and competitions. Homecoming was my favorite event to plan with my class because the competitions turned out amazing and we ended up winning. The last thing I liked about leadership this year was hosting the Kyoto kids. It was such a fun experience and I enjoyed spending time with all of them in and out of school.
A Reflection of a Peer in Leadership
Jenna Skavdahl is our ASB President and she is a legacy leader. She is one of the hardest working girls that I know. She will not stop until everything is perfectly planned and executed and that is why she is the perfect person for her job. I love her for her work ethic and her ability to be an amazing friend. She is always so encouraging of the people around her, but she is not afraid to be direct if the situation calls for it, which I love. She has done such an amazing job as president this year. From controlling the class to hosting large events, she can do it all. I am so grateful to have her as a best friend and someone I can count on. I know she will do amazing things because she is responsible, caring, and determined.

What I Love to Do
|
I spend my time doing various activities, but my favorite hobbies are softball, raising cattle, hunting, and serving our community as Miss Ripon. I have been playing softball for around ten years and it brings me so much joy. I have made some of my best friends playing the game. I love it because it is more than just a game, it is a way to build character, trust, and a team. I love getting loud on the field and being easily excited by seeing a ball hit in the air. Words can't describe how much the sport exhilarates me. It will be an emotional time to leave this sport behind when I graduate this year.
I have been involved in agriculture my whole life, so it was pretty much inevitable that I would fall in love with raising cattle. I raise breeding and market animals for show. I started out with just two, and now I have a whole herd. It is crazy how fast they have grown, but I wouldn't change a thing. Those animals bring me so much joy and I look forward to seeing where they take me the next few years. Hunting is another passion of mine. I started hunting when I was younger with my dad. It is so much fun and it benefits our family because we eat wild game. The most recent hunting trip I went on was over the summer with my best friend and I got to see her kill her first bear! Lastly, I love serving the Ripon community. My home town is very important to me so I was so grateful to serve as Miss Ripon for a year. It was such an amazing experience and I am so lucky to have met so many amazing people along the way. |

The Ideal Leader
The qualities of an ideal leader can vary based on different factors, but there are some essential attributes that remain constant. A dedicated, passionate, hard-working, and open-minded individual is what defines an ideal leader, regardless of their role within the leadership class at Ripon High or any other organization. To be successful in serving the student body to the fullest potential, a leader must hold themselves to high standards and not let down their team. They should be hardworking, put their best foot forward, and get past personal conflicts within the leadership class. An ideal leader should represent themselves well, treat others with respect, and conduct themselves in a professional and mature manner both inside and outside of the leadership class. This includes completing all their school work and making an effort to excel in all aspects of their lives. Furthermore, kindness and compassion are crucial when leading an inclusive and positive culture. Leaders should avoid being impatient and angry and strive to be respectful when leading groups of people. These qualities are essential for any ideal leader to possess and can be the key to their success in any leadership role.
